Love Junky
Love Junky was originally released in 1995 and was the Popguns' third studio album, marking a departure in style away from the more frantic "c86" style featured on their previous albums and John Peel sessions. This sound certainly edged toward the "commercial" and even resulted in some radio 1 daytime airplay for the lead single Star which featured as record of the week on the station's lunchtime slot. the subject matter of the songs had developed too, with more imagined characters appearing alongside the very personal torch songs like Someone to Dream Of and So Cold. Fans of the Popguns have always loved them for their strong song writing, energetic guitar power-pop and the rich, emotive vocals of lead singer wendy morgan. comparisons to 10,000 Maniacs and Blondie are most common but the songs always shine with a very british sense of the every day. The album is now being re-issued as an extended and re-mastered CD now featuring 9 extra bonus tracks from the singles that completed their 90's output for 3rd Stone Records.
