Mr Göteborg 1966
PRINTED ON RECYCLED CARD
Dimensions A6 (105MM X 148mm)
This particular muscle fest took place at Järntorget’s Folk House as the city searched high and low to find it’s ‘Mr Göteborg.’ A task made exceptionally difficult in a city teeming with hulking adonises. These competitions were in no way unique to Göteborg, they were part of the entertainment firmament in a time when gender roles were far more firmly bolted down. I can certainly vouch for the crushing adolescent anxiety precipitated by this projection of the male body and masculinity. A window into a past which is thankfully becoming an historical curiosity.
