The remixes on A Thicker Plot are inventive, giving us hip-hop, blunted downtempo, some drum and bass as well. Most remixes here radically deconstruct the rather everyday originals into beat territory – the choruses of the originals are largely gone and replaced with beats, samples, rhythmic push, not melodic or verse/chorus focus. A Thicker Plot has enough diversity and interest and arguably (with the exception of the outstanding original Long Time Gone) the remixes make the Galliano originals sounds fresher and more vital. Best remixes are a next level ambient breakbeat mix by Palm Skin Productions, an equally adventurous mix by Andy Weatherall, a nice ruff jungle remix by X Project, and a funky break hip-hop mix by Machine.
