Göteborg Soul Tram
An iconic feature of Gothenburg, The first tram line in was started in 1879, a horse-drawn tramway which stretched from Brunnsparken to Stigbergsliden. There were plans in the 1960’s to convert the tram system to an underground network, but due to the clay soil, this was seen as being to costly. A reprieving that has surely become an urban asset as many other European cities are now trying and reconfigure their transport systems, using trams to negate the presence of motor cars in their city centres.
Therefore, it is with pleasure, pride and relief we give you not ‘Soul Train’ or ‘Soul Tube,’ but Göteborg 'Soul Tram.'
