Göteborg Lejon
By all accounts Swedish reggae started Peps Persson heard Bob Marley's and was inspired to start singing reggae in his own Skånska Swedish dialect. His "Hög Standard" is recognised as one of the first Swedish reggae albums. But certainly not the last. With artist such as Kapten Röd, Dub Incorporation and Passafire, the Lion of Judah continues to roar with Reggae finding an established Scandinavian home in major festival staged in Upsalla and very our own GBG Reggae Fest starting in 2024.
Our very own exclusive ‘Göteborg Lejon’ print was exclusively designed by Craig Jamieson and shine’s a light on GBG’s diversity. Combining the Three Crowns of the city and the The Lion of Judah, a prominent symbol in the Rastafari movement representing Emperor Haile Selassie, as well as being a symbol of strength, kingship, pride and African sovereignty. With a multiplicity of voices singing in the city, this print represents a visual clash, a clash which makes not just GBG, but everybody’s culture richer.
