Nine
Original 1973 UK pressing in near-mint condition.
Nine is superb, perhaps the best they made after Richard Thompson's departure. It's a rollicking, heartfelt disc brimming over with humour and vitality. Swarb is at his best on "Hexhamshire Lass" and a beautiful setting of "To Althea From Prison", while Trevor Lucas shines on "Bring 'Em Down" and the almost proggish "Molly On The Shore". A quite different beast to the band's 1969 masterworks, but certainly worthy of being mentioned in the same breath.
