Bebop Enters Sweden 1947-49
Original 1982 Swedish pressing in near-mint condition.
Excellent postwar material by American jazzmen in Sweden -- a scene that was wonderfully receptive to our best bop styles! Includes material by Chubby Jackson & His Fifth Dimensional Jazz Group -- with Conte Candoli on trumpet, Frank Socolow on tenor, Terry Gibbs on vibes, and Lou Levy on piano -- plus Dizzy Gillespie with a large group that also includes Benny Bailey and Dave Burns on trumpets, Bill Shepherd on trombone, Howard Johnson on alto, Cecil Payne on baritone, and John Lewis on piano! Last up is material that features James Moody on tenor with the jam session band of trumpeter Gosta Torner, which includes Arne Domnerus on alto and Gosta Theselius on piano.
