Bernt Rosengren Big Band
1980 Swedish pressing in beautiful condition.
Bernt Rosengren, saxophonist, flutist, composer and arranger, has belonged to the greats of Swedish jazz since his debut in the 1950s, ans has built a long musical track record since.
For example, it was Rosengren who wrote the film score for Roman Polanski's debut film The Knife in the Water from 1962. At the end of the 1960s, he challenged the boundaries of jazz together with trumpeter Don Cherry, among others. This was followed by a close collaboration with Lars Gullin during the 1970s. Bernt Rosengren was also one of the building blocks of the prized free jazz group Sevda.
The album Bernt Rosengren Big Band was recorded and released for the first time in 1980. It features seventeen of the best Swedish jazz musicians from that time. American soloists Horace Parlan on piano and Doug Raney on guitar also appear on all songs.
